Ebgarde is a software made by a French guy.
On FIE website, not only you have the french version, but also
translations in English, German, Chinese, Spanish, Italian and
Portuguese.
Indeed, the software is the same, the only changes are in language, for
texts and help.
For more information, you can go to this yahoogroup : engarde-fencing and
join it http://groups.yahoo.com/group/engarde-fencing -

Download EnGarde 8 and Version anglaise. The Version anglaise is just
a couple of text files containing the translations and these files
should be put in the Ressources directory of the EnGarde program.
When you start the program you will then be able to change the
language from the "File" menu. -

I did an extensive test on Tournament Management software for the
Green Mountain Division this spring. We check out Xseed, FencingTime
and PointControl.
Xseed frankly leaves much to be desired--but it's available free of
charge from the USFA website (www.usfencing.org).
PointControl is significantly better than Xseed--and it's available
for a free download on the "What it's Worth to YOU" basis at www.pointcontrol.com; it's a good program and deserves a look.
We found FencingTime to be the superior management application; it's
not at all free, and it shows in quality, attention to detail and
flexibility. One of our division members paid $50 out of pocket, AND
tasked one of his laptops and a laser printer to the job of running
tournaments (Thanks Jim!). He paid the $50 by PayPal, and we were
able to download the software as soon as it cleared. (Note that FT
requires the .NET framework from Microsoft).
Green Mountain Division is the home of the in/famous "Shark Pool
Format"--it was essential that the program we chose be capable of
running wacky custom formats for events, and FencingTime did it with
ease. Our most computer- AND Fencing-tournament illterates were able
to pick up FT in a few minutes.
Regardless of which program you choose, once you go with management
software you'll never want to go back. It really is a great thing.
Cheers,
TC
