pomme de terre statistics

Okay, here I go, admitting that I'm a statistics junkie. How would you interpret the data on the Pomme de Terre registration page (pomme de terre) ? I'm intrigued that there are more women registered for every event (except open women's sabre) than last year, and fewer men. Do you think that there are more women fencing in the area? Or are women more likely to travel for a women's only event as a warm-up for Nationals, even though there are warm-up opens in most divisions right now? (I'm travelling an obscene distance, but then, I love the Pomme de Terre, and I do want a women's meet) Or are guys just lazy and willing to spend the late fee rather than lick an envelope?

i have two friends i was trying to convince to fence.

both fence sabre. both are too lazy to pay the late fee- one is men's one is women's...

maybe it's a sabre thing??

Wellesley is a women's college. that might help??

Lower numbers.

Maybe some of the lower numbers are because of the World Cup in NYC last weekend...

or the rapidly approaching cuba wc? jon marcel is traveling there instead of going to pdt

in an interesting twist of fate, my parents dragged me to wellesley today, to look at the school for college.

(i couldn't fit the entire walking tour in between pools and de's ; ) )

very nice campus, but a lot of construction going on, from what i saw (which was NOT the athletic facilities, those are covered in the walking tour) parking may be.... insteresting, shall we say?

their tennis courts are now a parking lot. that's the bizzarre parking issues they have right now. i'd arrive early, and put wheels on your bag. or, just get used to the idea of walking now...

IIRC, there were a number of folks last year who came from the WC to the Pomme - very cool for us. Or maybe I'm just remembering O'Malley, since she stuck around at the BFC for the intervening week.
