I know Northwest Fencing CenterNorthwest Fencing Center has group beginner lessons for kids. I don't know the cost, but you don't need any experience (they have several levels of group lessons). Check out their website. It might have more info.

Go to USFencing.org. On the left side is a link that says, "New to Fencing?" Click on that.
Then find, "Locate Clubs in your area." Click on your state when the map shows up.
There are many many clubs with classes for that age group.
A friend will bail you out of jail,
a true friend will help you hide the body...: )
As Mo said, knowing where you are would make our answers of more practical valueFWIW, I know of group classes for those ages at both the New York Fencers Club / Peter Westbrook Foundation and Salle Santelli in New Jersey. I *think* that the Metropolis club in NYC also does, but am not sure.
"In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different."
There are many fencing clubs that teach initially fencing at this age category with group lessons. Where do you live?
oh i live in georgia in the atlanta area

We have groups you can join on Monday nights in Dunwoody and Wednesdays in Alpharetta.
I think the cost is around $79 for either 6 or 8 weeks, I don't remember exactly.
You're welcome to vist and check it out.
My son started in that age group you listed. He started with a Kids Summer Program that the YMCA was having.
My advice...check into it now!; the summer programs will be starting or you can usually catch the second one before end of summer.
Visit the websites already given. Look in your phone book under clubs...check at the library. (Where I am currently living, the library has an exhaustive listing of local clubs and youth programs.) Check your local YMCA, or City Summer Programs. It will vary from city to city as to what is offered.
You may want to post the URL or club name here too...Originally posted by Ramrod

I am confused
Duh! Sorry 'bout that.
It's the Dunwoody Fencing Club.
We don't have a web-site, but send me a private message and I'll get you more details.
I would also add that one should break the age groups to 8-12 and 13-16. The 8-12 range is pre-growth spurt time while afterwards is post-growth spurt. You don't want to mix a 12 year old kid with a hunk of a 14 year old who can't quite control the body, but have just added an extra 50 lbs to the body since last year. Imagine that.
