I love going to tourneys with my kids. They fence foil, so usually they go first. Both are unrated, so they don't come close to the top of the charts, but that's not why we go. Then, they stay and watch me come in at the bottom of the list. I'm unrated, too. (I fence epee).

Afterwards, we all get together and go out to dinner and talk about our experiences on the strip. I think it's a great bonding experience.

My daughter tends to be like Peach's. Perhaps it's just a girl thing. She does not like to know I'm looking at her, because she says it ruins her concentration. My son sucks up all the encouragement and attention I give him, and draws on it for strength. I think it's neat to have two kids so different, but the meal and talk in the end are worth everything.

If I run into parents that are mean or acting like jerks, I usually just move away. If there are any kids / young adults there without a parent and in need of assistance, I 'adopt' them for that day.
