By the way, what's the standard forum penalty for people who digs up ooooold threads, flogging? Getting flicked by a bunch of newbies?

| Wear cushy socks, and shoes that fit well. Don't forget the appropriate gender-specific protective gear.

| There was this girl that took the beginning class with me that thought she could flick (this is the first week out of the class mind you). She would slap at my lowline (crotch) I would parry+riposte, and she would remise with her crotch slap. My god that hurt so much! We fenced dry for like two weeks without trying on the wetware. That was two weeks of hell! Once we started fencing electrically the crotch-slap attack stopped because 1) we had a director giving the point to my riposte, and 2)she realized she was never actually hitting, only slapping flatly at my poor poor crotch!

| Heh, sorry everyone.
It's what happens when you start surfing "related threads" and forget that you're doing it

| Well, it depends who you fence...
I got a HUGE bruise last Thursday from my opponent who I parried and done the riposte but my opponent still attacked me either way, even though I had right-of-way. My opponent missed and went for my leg. BIGGGG ouch. It was a bit painful but I forgot about it and continued with the bout. When I got home, I discovered the bruise was really lumpy and it was the size of my entire palm. This was foil so the leg hit was either way off-target.
Other fencers jab you not as hard, so it really depends. Choose your opponents wisely
Also, try not to fence hard hitting beginners...they hurt the most...
