Array What's a troll? -
Senior Member
Array Already do. I am all about free speech, and I would never have them banned from the board, but I will not waste my time looking through their garbage. Will they go away? Probably not. But it is a noble thought... You'll die as you lived, in a flash of a blade... -
I wonder if that includes me?
I guess, if I have to ask.... -
There's probably a net etiquette site somewhere that has a better definition of a troll than this but you'll get the idea.
Somebody who gets their jollies by being disruptive to the common theme. Or maybe they like to start a argument that they don't really care about just to get purists like me riled up.
Posters like Mr. Hutt ( Who writes suspiciously like another troll who used to haunt the board named 355...) would be a good example.
Ignoring their posts seems to be the most effective way to rob them of the attention that they are so desperate for, no matter how tempting it is to cow them with one's scintillating intellect.
Thanks for the comment D'art! I'm with you 100%.
Even this offhand mention of the troll in question will no doubt provoke a reaction filled with vitriol and bile. It's so sad... -

Array D'Artagnan speaks with the voice of wisdom! Do not feed the trolls. Well done, noble fencer.

Array Thank you for the support in this Crusade, but please do not count me too wise. I am quite guilty of feeding the trolls in my time. I am just decided that it is time that we organize a movement to stop this epidemic.

Puh-lease, we get enough marketing on CNN. but please do not count me too wise.
Bwah, ha ha haaa! I am just decided that it is time that we organize a movement to stop this epidemic.
Psh... Good luck. The book of Proverbs has many verses which talk about how if you reprove a wise man, he will love you.
Uh, huh. How about you start acting like a real Christian, and less like an Inquisitor? The "Crusade" to get rid of trolls? Should I be calling you David Koresh or Torquemada? If you people would spend more time understanding and less time ostracizing everything different from yourself, you wouldn't be contributing (feeding the trolls) as often as you do... moron. However, do not reproach a fool or a scorner for he will hate you.
I think you beat me to it. -
The Hitler of the forums eh? Cleansing all the undesirables? "Computers in the future may have only 1, 000 vacuum tubes and perhaps only weigh 1 1/2 tons."

Array I was never terribly fond of 357111 or whatever the numbers were, but I must say that she and the Hutt are not the same person.
Hutt is frequently seen on Fencingsucks under the same name. I know, I know I really should quite wasting my time by going there, but it's sort of like a bad accident. I don't want to look, but can't help it. One cat leads to another--Ernest Hemingway.

I keep telling you people that. : Hutt is frequently seen on Fencingsucks under the same name.
I live there, you know. I get free rent, and all I have to do is insult people from time to time. I know, I know I really should quite wasting my time by going there, but it's sort of like a bad accident.
Oh, you know you go there for gossip. (You spelled "quit" wrong, BTW.) I don't want to look, but can't help it.
Uh, huh. If you can't help it, you must be addicted. That, or insane. So, which is it?
Why can't you people just admit you go there out of morbid curiosity? Is it really that bad? -

Array Originally posted by 135711 No I'm not Faggot the Hut, whomever he/she is. See, it's not much fun when a poster insists you're someone you're not. I'm STILL not your old fencing partner, by the way. Originally posted by 135711 Saying you were never fond of 135711 is rude, in spite of the lowlevel posts that I read here, I've never said that I disliked a person. Uh, hello? Does this ring a bell?

Seems to imply just a smidgin of dislike, don't you think? Originally posted by 135711 What is more, the hyprocracy here stinks. What is all this crap about "see you at the nationals" or SEE you here, or SEE you there, when you can't even acknowledge that you know one another on the flicking board. Is it possible to recognize hypocrisy without being able to spell it? This CRAP about Summer Nationals is that there are a number of fencers I have met on the board that I would love to say "Howdy" to at Austin. I'd even like to meet all of the personalities trapped in 135711's corporal shell, if they'd bring a rotating sign so I could tell which persona I was talking to. Originally posted by 135711 This is stupid, I have something to do right now, so go read Fanny Hill and merk off. Array If "merk" means what I think it does, then "all merk and no play" would make me go blind. -
Quit (no longer with us)
Array Sir! Unhand me! don't take things so personally, just write for the board, it's supposed to take that edge off, hey-la, i'm listening to some really great Indian music and doing an interesting pastel of an interior, and exterior, what a problem! Can you believe Fanny Hill? That book rocked at one time, it's better than any other book of it's kind with the exception of Voltaire's Candice. Please don't really Merk around, it's not preferred conduct methinks! -

Array Originally posted by Faggot the Hutt If "merk" means what I think it does, then "all merk and no play" would make me go blind. Saaaaaay...your writing sounds an awful lot like verbal transcription. Are you having to use voice recognition software because of premature, adolescent, merking-induced vision impairment? Just wondering.
D'Artagnan: I have to say, that while not feeding the trolls is a noble concept, troll-baiting is a main part of the allure and fun of a public BB site, especially in the Watercooler area.
If we inject no personality into at least some of the posts, then we're stuck with a dreary litany of:
"When I initiate a parry in Octave Prime, is my little finger suppinated or pronated past 45 degrees?" type posts.
You have to admit having folks like Jupiter and FTH around injects a certain vigor to the discussion opportunites. Of course, in FTH's case, it's a crude vigor reminiscent of the microbial frenzy imbedded in material lanced from an abcess of Necrotizing Fasciitis, but you get my point.
Let's not get so pretentious that we can't poke a little fun at ourselves from time to time. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Array I applaud your attempts at dueling with me, but your diatribe is so full of useless wording, your point and reasoning is lost. It's not the kind of words, but how one uses them. Your language is a dull rapier, and you seem to have lost your way with exaggerated parries and extensions. -

Array it's really a shame to see that "trolls" are making this board seem more and more like fencingsucks every day..... my mom says I'm going to hell.....
