| A shout out from the virgin islands...
Just wanted to say hi to evryone, my girlfriend and i are vacationing in the virgin islands on st. croix. We have been living it up on the beaches enjoying the sun and doing some shopping. And Enjoying the under 18 drinking age  . Hope everyone is well, ill be back in the fencing chat when i get home on the 7th. talk to everyone then.

A quick afternoon shower to keep things from being too hot...
Where are you staying on the island? Just curious...I lived there for awhile.

I saw the craziest thing there...a three car pile up in the Kmart parking lot...one of them was even flipped...still don't know how the locals managed to do that one.
The biggest down side to St. Croix...no fencing! | |

| About 6-7 years ago there was talk from someone at UVI about getting a collegiate team started. They were questioning RSF about what was involved. Given the travel costs for competitions I'm not surprised nothing came from it. Somewhat surprised that a recreational club didn't result.

| St. Thomas has fencing. That, I am guessing, was probably what came out of the talking you are referring to.
When ferries are running....$45 round trip fee to get from St. Croix to St. Thomas. Otherwise, $100 and something to fly...sometimes you can get a break and fly for around $80.
It is just too cost prohibitive for anyone on St. Croix to travel to the club on St. Thomas for fencing.
Believe me, we looked into every available scenario...even buying a boat...but docking fees are also exhorbitant. | |
