    Dead?

Very few recent posts on this section.

Is it time to put it to rest?

I can always move this section of the forums over to it's own site and have that be dedicated to fiction writing as long as people will visit. As it stands now, the posts are so few that it looks to be time to go.

I think it's played out its usefulness. I almost voted 'how did it get here anyhow' but then I remembered when we started it, with Arcon. And since Arcon doesn't publish much, we really don't need to write in it.

Just to humor the D&D nerds, how about you roll a D20? 1-10 means the section goes, 11-20 means it stays for 1d4 weeks before you bring it to a vote again.

It is NOT dead. It might be on hiatus right now, but it is NOT dead. Don't forget, it's the end of the school year (meaning finals) for some people, & I stated that once the novel is done (I'm at the end) I will be back. I know that Lord Tellurine is currently traveling, doing school shows (which will end when school gets out, go fig), & he plans to be back as well. People have just been busy.

Craig, please consider those who have been here from the very beginning, & OUR opinions on the matter. So far, it appears you've only had people who have had it in for this section of FN for a while. Naturally they'd vote to end it.

And if you take it down, it'll royally screw up the dedication in the novel...among other things connected with it.

But this is all your choice, Craig. It upsets me to even think that this is being considered. I could say a helluva lot more, but I'm not even going to lower myself to what I'm REALLY thinking right now.

Notice those who are saying to close it down are those who either don't write anything, have anything to do with it, or are people looking to cause trouble for those who DO want to be a part of Fantasy Land. This started as a lark and took fire. Craig, you were nice enough to give us our own spot. Just because life has been hectic for several of us and we can't write as much as we used to, please, don't take it away. My life has been a whirlwind of either working at my kids school as a substitute teachers aide or I've been volunteering at their school. Summer is almost here, meaning there will be a lot more time for things such as writing here. Don't give us something and then take it away from us! As my kids would say, using that dreaded four letter "f" word: "That's not FAIR!"

Lord Tellurine? Oh, boy! Is he a faggot? Does he wear turquoise, and bells on his boots and dance around singing merry songs? I bet you he isn't as strong as me. I'm a level 8 Fighter with a prestige class in Aerobics. I'll bust you all upside the head with my Elven sword of Faggotry +5 if you don't give me 1,000gp right now!

Wait a minute, first Moonitic mentions herself and some faggot named Lord Tellurine, now you mention "several" others will be inconvenienced. So, essentially not more than 5 of you will be out of a home if this section is closed down. What? Go to Yahoo! groups and setup a site, or just give me your character sheets and I'll make something for you so you'll stop complaining. -1,000xp for you!

    Craig,
I dont think it needs to be closed down. As Moon said most of us seem to be buried under books/finals or work. Come your summer I am sure we will be back. I know Arcon is around and looking to post again, he just has to catch up on the story line. Swords has finished finals and is trying to work out how to keep hold of his character and still go to the academy.
Moon is nearly finished the book.
Willow is trying to get back in.
We have heard about Tellurine, and I'm finished field work for the next couple of weeks so hopefully will have some more time as well.
I know there are others there who want to write but the real world has caught up with them. Give us some time to regroup and reassess. The last thing I want is for this wonderful escape to disappear!!!
Theses are evil....VERY evil, someone rescue me pls!

Moon, I understand what you are saying, but remember how this all started. Some posts were overloading water cooler and I split this off to appease the fencers who didn't want to wade through those posts to get to water cooler type discussions.

I was thinking that this section has it's own identity and could "grow up" and get it's own place on a sister site that would be more dedicated to writing. That way you may draw some more writers in both from the fencing side and outside fencing.

It wouldn't be that hard to split out another site for this, and a couple of writers could then have full admin access to do what they want to build the site up rather than what's happeining now.

    Craig,

Thinking about it, it would be (very) nice for our little section of the world to have its own place. That way, we wouldn't "bother" those who are so terribly against Fantasy Land's existence. I'd actually be happy to work with someone in the administration, as the resident "pro"...as silly as that sounds! I have a lot of information for writers that I'd love to share.

Okay, we're on the same page now. Carry on. Yesterday was just a rotten day for me!

I change my vote to a "new site." I know a LOT of people who love Arconia (even though they don't post, they still read) & would hate to see it & the other creative endeavors go down the drink.

    1. I am not this person "Space_cadet."

    2. You're not kicking anybody's *** here on the Internet.

    3. You're not kicking anybody's *** out in public because you're a skinny, little stickman:

Hutt, I mean this in the nicest way, butt out. You do not write here and obviously you dont want to have anythign to do with this forum except attempt to hurt those who do write here and enjoy this forum.

As for me writing here Yes, I still write. Yes, I am dealing with a Lot in school right now with finals, registering college, and it has been a rough few weeks for me having to say goodbye to all of those I love who are leaving (seniors at my school). So I am still here, and as Z, Moon, and Willow have said everyone else is busy as well. Give it a month at the very most and you will see that this forum will be running hot.

I could see the forum being moved to another site all of its own, but I know for me it would cause more work because I like to add a little in the other forums as well. However I am game for either keeping it here or giving it it's own site just as long as we don't throw all of this talent and hard work down the drain.

I'm climbing off the soap box for now and giving it to the next in line.

Oh, boo hoo. Get with the program, suckah. Per your signature, the only thing you're seizing is a case of the ***. You wanna story, I'll give you a story. Here goes:

Once upon a time there was a stupid, little fairy. Nobody liked the fairy because all he did was complain about not being able write his inane little stories. One day, the stupid, little fairy went to the store to buy some curds and whey. On the way to the store, the fairy got eaten by a hairy ogre. The end.

We should feel honored that our little site has caught "it's" attention. If it was as insignificant as he/she/it said, then he/she/ it would not waste his/her/its time here. I don't quite understand why some people are so bent out of shape about Fantasy Land existing. Fencing is about creativity...this is another way to express creativity. Who does it hurt, really? If I could get an honest answer to that, not a childish attack, that would be something.

So gang, ignore him/her/it. And think of it this way: If we had our own dedicated area specifically for the pursuit of writing (all types of writing, even), we could be a lot more discerning of what company we keep. The "Troll Bridge" will be closed down.

Don't worry, Iwant...it wouldn't be any more work to get from Site A to Site B. That's what links are for!

Me/myself/I think you should kiss my toe/elbow/butt. You/moron/baboon don't understand that you're wasting Craig's/webmaster's/moderator's time/webspace/bandwidth so your little corner/hole/pigsty can have some space for your stories/projects/crap. I couldn't care less that you think I'm a troll/instigator/gadfly. If you want a creative story, I'll give you one because I've got more than enough creativity in my pinkey/eye/left testes to spread around town.

As for Fantasy Land being a waste of Craig's time, money, bandwidth, etc., etc., they're his to use as he sees fit. If he doesn't have a problem with it, it isn't for you (or us) to say him nay.

As for the rest of your asinine drivel, it isn't worth answering.

Sword, this moron can't be Space_Cadet--Space was much more articulate and erudite than this...whatever it is.

Blah... When you don't have a leg to stand on, swear and make references to people in the 3rd person. You're not showing much intelligence by resorting to such tactics; to what creativity were you fools refering? All I see are a bunch of witless amateurs who have never met a challenge and now have no idea how to react. At least change your tactics, Moonitic already tried the "it" references. C'mon, at least poke fun at my name...
