Thank you Craig - I saw the Chinese Team. The womens epee team looks serious. I'm totally pissed off. Where is my epee? I feel that I met one of the girls before, there were three girls from china who visited a salle I went to but she was a swimmer not a fencer! Peter must have brought these back to you? They're great! I'd love to go to China and fence for a summer!

I just looked at them again in slideshow. These are really nice photos, I really enjoyed them, no one can complain there wasn't enough epee!!! I love it, there's a few shots in there where I could see, the first attack misses, she counters and scores, the initial attack passes, and so on, why didn't she go for under the arm? etc, all hindsights of course.

Y'know, I've been trying to get people to send me their photos for months, but I got only one person to do so. How about that? Why wouldn't anyone want me to ridicule them, or their friends/enemies/pets on the World Wide Web? Is that fair? No, I think not. After looking at some of the fencing website photos I've seen, there's no excuse for being afraid to send me your pics. At least let a professional make fun of you in ways an amateur websurfer can't.

if even whitney doesn't have any photos there already, and from glancing at the front two pages i didn't recognize any, then ask him to put some there. his photos of fencing are first-class.

I sent some into some to the georgia fencing site but they STILL haven't been posted. Well at lesat as far as I am aware.

I have three submitted photos on Page #2, two images on Page #3, and two on Page#4. I've tried submitting more in the past but for a long time the page wouldn't let me post images.

That being said I appreciate the compliment, and let me upload a small batch shortly. I'll add a bunch more later.

Craig, there used to be a picture of a fencer getting a biig hug and kiss from his girlfriend! What happened to it???? I'm trying to make a few posters for my club and i was thinking about using that picture but now i can't find it on the site. please help.

There seems to be quite a few fencers in those photos who finish their lunges with their front feet way infront of their front knees. Is there any benefit to this? I'm just a silly newbie whom was told not to do this.

Ah, but remember these fencers are still have a lot of forward momentum.

By the time they come to rest, they will be over their knees.

Yes, the camera isn't always taking the shot just at the moment when the fencer hits the exact finish of the lunge. The hit should precede the finishing of the lunge, in any case (in some cases the hit arrives before the foot even touches the ground).

So one can't expect the photographer and the fencer to coordinate the timings so that the shot will have the fencer posed just right.

And no fencer would stand there even after the hit in a static position. Once the lunge is completed, the fencer better be pushing off to recover.

Interesting observation, I hadn't thought of that. what we should have are ex-fencers with good photography skills. I've noticed the same thing about the lunges looking like splits, it doesn't look polished, the complete lunge looks great, and maybe all the rules changes has something to do with the way the fencer appears in print?
