update on my entry into fencing....

So the first lesson went well, he started off with alittle bouting cause he wanted to see what i knew from my prior SCA crap, we quickly decided that i needed to start from basicly scratch. worked on single cut attacks without moving, then advance and cut, then lunge cut, then finished with advance and lunge cuts. worked head cuts, chest cuts and underarm cuts aout equally. it went well, i enjoyed it alot.

Then saturday i woke up early to go in and fence for about 1 1/2 hours with a teenager from the club and another adult. I pretty much got pounded on for an hour, have the war wounds to prove it, but they were very helpful and i learned alot, the hardest thing i think is getting used to ROW. another thing, in sCA you could attack they parry and basicly you keep going and attack befor their parry ripost hits, in this obviously, my attack is invalid even though it lands befor his, parry riipost touch is his. need to work on counter parry's. Another problem i had was stoping cuts that would land on the inner side of my upper arm (sword arm) i was tryin to get strong parry's against those attacks but often times the flick of the blade would land anyways. but i did get a nice parry ripost against one of those tacks that they were both impressed by, it was bascly croutch and parry 5 with ripost to his torso on the sword arm side. After about 20 5 touch bouts i think i won 2, and then in the end i went 15 touches with the kid and he won 15-10 so i felt that i did ok.
    thats it for now.
