| Summer Nationals I really want to go to Su Nationals this year. My only drawback is that I hate to travel by myself - I have three more days to become not upset. I would also need to buy another equipment bag. I called American Airlines and they really have no idea, so, I was thinking if I could get some honest feedback from you guys.
How do your weapons fare in the bags that go in cargo if you don't have a hardshell {TCA is only vendor with one} also, hardshells are too big; i'd like to get just a bag big enough for 4 epees; all other equipment goes in a regular bag. What do you people do? I can't stand the suspense anymore.
I found a great ticket and hotel room for the event i want.
Looking forward - If I don't go, I'll be attending an art class; or going to a summer camp I cant stand all of this. |

| Jupe,
Take a look at golf bag cases. check google or ebay...
SKB makes a good one for $109 by mail order, Golf guard makes a less expensive version for about $59. |

| I have traveled to hundreds of competitons over my lifetime in fencing, and I have never had any of my weapons not work from any breaking. The only problem is theft from the TSA folks (already two items gone from trips since January when TSA started to check all [ok, most] bags).

| p.s. Artisian, I like your new Avatar, that's item #1; item #2, I could buy a new sofa with the cost of going to nationals this year; #3; there's a great camp in ohio, maybe I should think about instead of flaking out at nationals or, maybe eh? #3; there are very few fencers on the board; and some of the names are too gory for me i feel upset. |

| Besides the point Perhaps this is irrelevent now, but they do sell these casket-sized golf cases (hard plastic) with wheels at most sporting goods stores. They're longer than your average golf bag and would easily hold a number of weapons plus gear plus tools. I dunno the technical name for the things. I do remember them being 20-30 bucks, easy. |

A good golf coffin has locks on it, metal all along the enclosure and costs about 125 bucks. It will have some padding in it too
If you get a really big one, you can put all the weapons a family owns in it. Make sure it is very sturdy and will last.

| Hs my first GolfGuard hardshell for over 8 years before it finally gave up the ghost. It was $50 then and is about $39 now. Went for the upgrade this time ($69). I carry 6 foils, 4 epees and 2 sabers along with mask, jacket, tools, knickers, change of clothes, lame`, and other odds and ends. just my $.02 |
