The SKB case can really take a beating. My wife or I fly with our gear EVERY week and have had all sorts of suitcases and such destroyed by the gentle airline baggage handlers and the SKB cases have survived and more importantly our gear has remained in tact.
The down side is that the bags do not fit in most car trunks in the U.S. and in Europe I don't think there was any car that they could fit in.
The cases also do not hold as much gear as the bigger soft bags and they also tend to weigh more.
If you need a gorila proof bag I think the SKB is it.

(I'm kidding)
One of the locks broke within 6 months of use. Perhaps, overfilling the case. I called SKB, and without asking me many questions, they sent me FREE, a full set of locks and keys. Its hard to find that level of customer service in other products.
