| Another Blade Identification Challenge Got a few of these Epee blades from a fellow clubmember. They came from Russia. All silver colored, dated 1997. Does anyone recognize the forge marks?
Its a nice blade - I'd like to find more. Especially at $10... the screwless Russian tip even worked for a few weeks - until I figured out how to open it up and "adjust" it. Then it wasn't the same and I hadta rewire. |

| Huh. I've seen that logo on some of the club's foil blades. I'm tempted to say Physical Chess, but I'm not entirely certain. o.O |

| JEC's right.
Those blades are cheap, flicky, and usually don't last very long. They come for at least foil and epee (not sure if they make saber blades too). I use them quite a bit; if you want flexible blades and tend to buy them cheap, they're not a bad choice. Blade and Physical Chess both sell them, I think. |

| Fleche blades are made by the Ukranian forge Lammet, as are Dinamo and (IIRC) PBT's non-maraging blades.

| If I scanned the marks on my sword's blade could somebody identify it? They're slightly faded, but I'm interested.
Thanks.
(Can't do it for a few days though, I've left it at school at the moment)

Is this Andrei Yakimenko's blade?

| Yeah, I doubt it also. The Fleche epee blades I've used always seemed oddly balanced and not very durable.
If you got 'em cheap, there OK as a short term solution. They kink easily and once they do they're doomed.

| Paolo,
Their problem is poor quality control. As you know, they are made by hand, some are excellent and durable (..1997); but I agree many are bad. |

Paolo | Huh? Aren't ALL blades some form of short term solution?
One of em got a soft spot almost right away. Another lasted pretty well until...it...ah..... broke
I guess I've developed a silly affinity for them since at my last competition I lost my first two bouts using my Vniti baseball bat, then switched to the mystery- blade and won the remaining 4. It felt so light and quick..and well balanced. I will keep the Vnity Epee around as a reminder of what I DON'T like.
I'm looking forward to Summer Nats. So I can see touch taste new equipment rather than by sight unseen. |

| This is from the Dinamo (Dynamo) forge. You can see the same forge mark as their logo here: http://www.dinamo-blade.lg.ua/plant.html |

Is that the same forge that makes the Dynamo blades for Tripplette?
I've ordered 3 of the Fleche blades from Blade fencing, their Hurricane floyd variety for 8 bucks each, they're not too bad but they DO kink easily. Foil blades, that is. |

| I am pretty sure it is the same company that makes the Triplette blades as the name is the same and they are both made in the Ukraine. They are light and feel well in the hand, but under hard use "speaking of epees now" I have never seen one last more than a couple of months. Also the flexability of the blades tend to vary widely from what I have experianced. Oh yeah, and they kink easy!
