International Equipment Orders

Did anyone have any experience ordering equipment in Europe and receiving it by
mail in the US? If so, what customs are to be expected if any?

Thanks in advance!

Re: International Equipment Orders

I have my first orders in to Loan Paul in London and Uhlmann in Germany.
They should be in within two weeks. One of for about $300 and the ther for
about $1150. I'll let you know how each of them are handled. The current
world situation will probably have an impact on how packages areprocessed
thru customs ( detailed inspections . . .)

Loan Paul. I like that concept! I need a couple of Maraging blades for the
Sectionals. Do you think Graham will go for it?

Sorry, Dirk....

Highly unlikely. The last time I visited, Barry said he'd kill Rene
for giving me a 10% discount on the time before.

The only thing I reckon ever I'd go back for are épées.

Re: International Equipment Orders

Well, both my orders are in, and both in eight days. As I mentioned earlier,
the two orders were for $204 and $1150. Neither had any additional duty on
them. One of the packages did sit at JFK airport from Friday to Monday in a
'Held' status, but that just may have been because it was over the weekend.

Anyway, it went very smoothly. While I did not save much on the items I
could have bought from U.S. distributors, I was able to get items that
aren't carried in the U.S.

Did they include clothing? Previous threads have suggested that clothing is
most likely to get hit with tariffs.

Re: International Equipment Orders

Between the two orders, I had foils, reels, a jacket, mask, glove and
knickers.

The real issue right now is the US economy. The dollar is at a
historic low against the Euro, at 1 US Dollar to 0.89 Euros. When I
was first purchasing from Germany, it was one dollar to 1.12 Euros,
which was quite the bargain.
