my foil keeps setting off white light

I've a very stubborn foil that works fine but sometimes sets the white light off when shaking it, I got it re-wired but the problem continued, it seems to be something on the guard's plug, because my body wire works fine with all other foils except this one, how can I fix it?

If you've isolated the problem to your plug, then check both your body cord and the socket for your foil.

The "quick and easy" way to fix this would be to get a small screwdriver and spread the prongs on your bodycord a bit to ensure a solid connection. Of course, that will make the plug a bit tougher to get out of your other foils.

You should also take a good look at the socket to make sure that the wire is securely tightened and then look to see that the hole isn't wider than your other foil sockets. They wear out over time and that may be the cause of your problem. Switching out for a new socket (or that part of the socket) may help.

Cheers
Craig

Were the old point parts re-used with the new wire? There are a variety of problems that can crop up in the point that will produce
a break in the circuit. A very common one is the peening of the flange at the end of the tip working loose (especially on Prieur tips). If the tip has a lot of vertical play (i.e., with the point fully assembled you can pull the tip upwards by 1 mm or more), then the peening is loose. You can fix the peening with a hammer and nail-set-- it'll work loose again eventually, and after a couple of times through you'll need to replace the tip.
