athletics combined with fencing New events in Eastern European field athletics bring in local fencers who now have started to compete in something which looks like the triple jump, except they do a step-jump-lunge instead of the hop-skip-and-jump.
There are two versions being experimented with: one with a run-up, the other without a run-up, before the step-jump-lunge. The idea is to set distance and speed records.
The competitiors where fencing knickers and shoes, a tee-shirt, and a light fencing mask; they carry a foil or epee, or alternatively a wooden staff.
It is a new way of looking at the fencing, yess??
Record holder in the speed trial is the Russians, it is a 1,6 second over a 2 meters and blasting. Can it be a good thing? -

Array Wow. GREAT idea. I've never heard of anything like this. But it does sound cool. How's this for cool:
The advance lunge contest as a "side event" at a local tournament, with its own medal. Points for distance achieved, and for not falling over. It would be a sort of fun thing, with hooting and cheering. It would also be an event that rewarded good form.
There can be other little rapid-fire sub-competitions:
- Most flicks landed on a standing-still shoulder (registering with a box) out of 15.
- Most distance achieved with 3 lunge redoublements.
- Fastest crossing of the strip (without doing crossovers).
Also:
- Team lunge relays. Not so sure about this one.
Wouldn't something like this be neat to try at a friendly tournament? A little free side-event, between pools? -

Array Dumbest idea ever.
I rank this up there with the slam dunk contest spinoff of the NBA. Granted its just my opinion, but I'd rather see fencers, well.. fence.

Yes and the flying fleches in a sabre, well it is not allowed, and is no crossings of the feet in a saber, but then there is good athlete in a fencer,it is a fit and a fasst, healthy on a sport Similar Threads -
