| Magic 8 Ball The Magic 8 Ball is getting created to answer those questions that every first time poster seems to ask.
What I would like to do is get help from the community here to program the answers to what we've seen as the common questions.
From what I remember, the list of common questions on this board seem to be:
- Where can I fence (where are clubs located, etc.)
- Information on the history of fencing (posted by those wanting some easy internet material for their report/school project)
What are others that you can think of?
I'm planning on having it answer with a standard reply and giving an appropriate URL for more information or where to start out the web search.
Cheers,
Craig |

| Maybe we simply could program the fencing faq from r.s.f into it?
I don't know much of how these bots work, but I would be willing to give it a try...

| sounds like a good idea.
The tricky part is setting the wildcards up so that it will answer the question without it having to be worded exactly right. (In other words, will answer both "Where can I fence" and "Where are there some clubs to fence at")
I've got the docs on how to set that up though, so I'll give it a go in the next couple of weeks. |

| Hi!
Flicks and ROV, in their myriads of permutations, also spring to mind - at least mine.
Other ideas:
Which weapon is right for me?
Which weapons shall I start with?
How does the ratings system work?
Where can I get reasonably cheap gear?
When shall I start competing?
I take it that this is intended as a FAQ for those who have none, or max one year´s, fencing experience.
Have a nice time!

Are we doing the 2001 thing?
"Dave...Dave....is that you Dave? What are you doing Dave?" |
