some of the foam insulation that goes around plumbing pipes (to
protect the sharp edge from the metal on one hook.) If your
tastes dictate, you can also get various sorts of decorative coat
hooks in other metals; if you can find aluminum you wouldn't need
to worry about the blade edge.
Screw to the wall, or to posts on a base or whatever, and you're
off to the races.

Do you mean a method of hanging the sword on a wall? You might try a
wooden gun rack (or building your own--it's not terribly difficult if
you know which end of a saw is which.)
Or do you mean a method of hanging it off your belt? The method I use
for making any kind of sword scabbard is to take two strips of leather
that are about 1/2 inch wider than the blade, and a third strip that
is cut as an "outline" of the blade for a spacer between the two sides
of the scabbard. I make a "sandwich" by sewing the three pieces of
leather together. Punching or drilling all those holes and then sewing
it is tedious, but not terribly difficult. Attach a strap near the
mouth of the scabbard and another one eight to twelve inches back. Put
a ring or flat hook on the upper end of each strap to mount them to
your belt.
Bear in mind that having that much "tail" behind you means you have to
be *very* careful turning around, moving backwards or generally
maneuvering in a crowd. oherwise you're going to whack somebody
without meaning to. Sitting down with such an encumberance is also
"interesting".
I don't know about Scottish claymores, but most of the pictures I've
seen of German Landsknecht great swords show them simply carried over
one shoulder, not worn on the belt.

asking them, I'd like to get a nice hanger for the nice, expensive,
and insured piece.

them sell racks for swords that can be free standing or mounted on walls. I
got one for 3 swords for $8 - black painted wood, took a couple of minutes
to screw the pieces together.
