| Once I went to a tournament in Las Vegas... that was fun. I'd love to have a tourny in Chicago... I've always wanted to go there. Somehow Overland Park and Greenville don't wake in me much of a sense of adventure.

| I like Columbus as one of the best places. There are so many places within walking distance of the venue and hotels to eat. The North Market right out the door from the place in the Venue was fun to shop in!!
You get a lot of exercise just walking around, there is a cyber Cafe.
There is room, there are seats out of the way.
It seems to work well. No rental car is needed either.

| NYC I would LOVE to go to the World Cup in NYC but no one in the family is fencing in it. : (
The finals will be held in Grand Central Station. That is the most amazing place. It is huge and cavernous and has just been restored. If not for the expense and lack of funds, just going to see it would be amazing!

| New York is very good.
Athens is cool also: interesting place, very friendly people and some sort of festival where people buy plastic battons/hammers and hit everyone else walking down the street (what is that about?!?)
Las Vegas is also very cool: they should hold an a-grade there...

| Cape Town! had an interuniversity tourney there 2000: very memorable experience not least due to the place itself.

| I don't think you would get away with that in the US, you would either get lots of people suing each other or someone would get out a gun and shoot the person who hit them over the head/bottom with a plastic batton... ;-) (actually that isn't funny, 'cos I am sure it WOULD happen.... :-( ).
Go to Greece and enjoy the hospitality and the pain...

what do you think.... | Back in the 80's, Chicago always hosted one of the NAC. Even in the late 70's, before the NAC tournaments, there was the annual Chicagoland tournament with all the top dogs. I don't know why they stopped. Anyone know?

Muaddib | I just started fencing in Chicago three seasons ago. The feeling I get is that the Chicago fencing community is lacking in that unity and organization that it sounds like it once had (it hosted several NACs in the '90s as well). But I'm a competitor, so I'm just looking on the outside on that one and don't really know the real deal.
It would be fun to get people out here for a NAC. |
