Workings of the discussion board

Hi!

Can someone enlighten me on these topics:

1. Sometimes (not often) I notice that I get email notifications about new posts, and those threads do not appear in the list when I do a new posts search. Why does this happen?

2. When I try to use the yellow picture smilies, it does not work. What am I likely doing wrong? If it matters, I am using a several years old Compaq, with Windows95 installed.

3. A few days ago, I got email notification that two members had tried to send me PMīs, but that since my inbox was full, they could not be delievered. The automatic message also included a statement that the PMīs would be resent at a later time. I did clear out a bunch of stuff. Today, I got a PM from another poster. Will the old PMīs be resent? How can I find out how much memory space I am occupying? What is the limit size of the inbox?

Have a nice time!

Hmmm...Not sure why this would happen. The only reason would be that the poster then deleted their post or the thread moved to another folder (like from discussion to water cooler.) Without specifics I can't give you anything else. Forward me the email notifications that are giving you the error and I can track them down.

You mean this one ? The smilies are just replacements for using emoticons. If you click on one when posting, then the text for the smily will show up at the end of your post.

The PMs should be resent, let me know if they are not. You are allowed a total of 50 saved private messages (across all of your boxes.) Clear out your "sent" box from time to time as well unless you *really* want/need to save those.

Cheers,
Craig

i think i know what you were doing; you were typing in the symbols and expecting the emoticons to pop in [um, that's the old days peter, now it's just click and serve], it's sort of like wp 5.1 in dos days, when we all memorized the keyboard and made up codes to store in the board! yea! those days are gone.

135711,

Yes, one can still type in the emoticons.

that's a ":" followed by a capital "D", etc.

or ':' , 'dunce' and ':'
=

Why would one type the emoticons in?
Placement.
When clicking on the emoticons, the emoticons go to the end of the posting...
