| If fencing wants to quickly lose whatever meager attraction it has for those who aren't in the sport (and leave those who are in the sport with a bad taste), start wearing those "designer" unitards.
Match them with lexan masks and you're on your way to obscurityville.

| the mask thing I agree the mask thing is sort of unrealistic, but, the uni-tard, looked comfortable, but maybe not! I looked again at the waistband of the knickers and compared to the unitard, [I used to sew], I can see the merit of knickers. With full length unitards it would pull at the knees. I suppose image must have to play a part in all of this. Thanks for the final say, I can now avoid buying a unitard.
I'm hoping to see you in austin, as well as our unitard friends!

btw: Did we lose the USFA website altogether? |

| The mid-practice or competition bathroom breaks might be kind of difficult in a unitard! |

| Unitards have been tried/sold to fencers before. They don't look good and they are not practical. (You can't just take off your jacket between rounds but would have to either have the top half flapping around or totally dress out.)
Check out Triplette's catalog as they were the vendor that sold unitards.
IMO the unitards were just damn goofy.
Cheers,

Can they disallow ALL sweats and baseball pants if they meet the requirements laid out in the USFA rules? (long enough to be attached below the knee, high enough to have a ten CM overlap with the jacket.) | |

| As recently as last year I have seen fencers at the summer nationals competing in baseball pants.
Sweats on the other hand have been banned for quite some time.

| Unitards look, well...unitarded. Worse than pink lames and masks with faces painted on them, even. ( Now you too can look like a Teletubby. )
Plus, they trap body heat more than separate jacket and knickers---no outlet at the waist. |

| Hey now wait a minute.....I can see how a unitard might look good on a woman....but probably not so good on a man.
Kind of like a "catsuit."
I think that we need someone to model one for us. |
