Thank you to MFP, there are others who have mentioned the March 1993 issue. All I said is they showed her fencing and some of the other pictures showed fencing equipment, such as having a Foil lame and a sabre.

| Sabine Bau Hi!
A picture of S. Bau, and other fencers, can be found here: http://home.bawue.de/~hmrupp/fechten/news_jan00.htm
BTW: Edew, have a look in your PM inbox.
Have a nice time!

| The picture in the middle claiming Annamarie Granbassi fencing against Sabine Bau cannot be Bau on the right (and since Bau is right-handed, it can't be Bau on the left either).
I've never seen Bau make a lunge attack like the picture is showing!
Further down in the page, there's a picture of Bau doing the Bau-thing. THAT'S Bau.
Also, I haven't received a PM from you (Peter G) or anyone else.

The photo of him on the homepage is from the 2003 calendar of Italian athletes issued by the magazine "Donna Moderna" (like an Italian version of our Cosmopolitan). He did this work for free, and all funds from the sale of the calendar went to help the Afghanistan people. He also does alot of work in support of the paralympics. He is really a very great guy when you take the time to know him -- I would most certainly date him. |

Uhh edew, you might notice that the person in both pictures is the same, as shown by the back leg sock mostly down, the same color and cut lame, the rather longs legs, and the machine which says Sabine Bau on it.

| I was just commenting on his appearance. I don't know the man, he may be a really nice person.

| Veeco, do you have any comments on his behavior at Lisbon? |

| I don't know what his behavior was in Lisbon... Unless that he lost and I think that his team was black carded? Or was it the foil team? Or both?

| He would hardly be the first one to do this, no?
I am not condoning his behavior, but I guess that doesn't make him a bad person in my eyes.
In any case, I wasn't here to see him do it, so I can't really say whether it was bad or not.
As I said, I was just commenting on his looks. In a thread called FIE babewatch, I guess that's all what I was supposed to do, right?
I was merely saying that if my imaginary daughter brought Milanoli to a family reunion to introduce him to me, at first I would not be too happy, from the looks of him...

Regarding Paolo not being the first black carded out of a tournament, you have to do quite a bit to be able to surpass his behavior. There is no question that he is an outstandingly talented fencer, but not person in the "relatively small" (due to nature of fencing) public eye. |

| I hope I'm not too arrogant (ha!) to preside over how we should decide on who is a babe or not, but I think the standard should be whether a fencer would look good in a fencing "babe" calendar hanging on my wall, not whether I'll feel good if he or she came home with my daughter (or son) for dinner.
In that case, Sylwia Gruchala should be on January, February, March, April, May and June. Paolo Milanoli can be on July. Then others can chip in with their suggestions.

| I don't believe this kind of topic is allowed to go on. What kind of message are we sending? This is as shallow as I have ever seen on fencing.net! Objectifying people like pieces of meat. Where is the common decency? It's not what's on the outside that counts, it's what is inside that does. This person has the brazen attitude to even name the topic FIE Babewatch. I had no other choice than to check it out. Every message and every link all point to one thing, there aren't any photos of female fencers to tease us in a delightfully naughty way. |
