Fighting soon to start in Italy

Yup, the Junior World Championships will start next weekend, April 5 and ending on the 12 or 13th.

Picks? Pans? Guesses at how high some 'Merkins will finish?

My guess is that JWST will take first, Sada will make top-3.

Adam Crompton will make top-8, maybe medal (that guy's got all heart and lots of other major body parts to run with).

MF and WF will do reasonably well with possible top-8 finish in both.

Emily Cross > Doris Willette > Abby Emerson.
Dmitri KirkGordon > Steve Gerberman > Brendan Meyers

Meyers will get medal in cadet.

Nice job by Max Wiliams to make the cadet team at the youngest age of 13.

Marcos Lucchetti did a good job to get 3 fencers in there: Dmitri, Clinton Kershaw, and Max.

Emily Cross has to be a favourite for a medal in the cadet event (and could do well at junior too) - an amazing fencer.

Canadians should also take a couple of medals home:
    JMF - Josh McGuire - 1st
    JME - J.-P. Seguin - top 4, Tigran Bajgoric - top 8
JWS/CWS Olga Ovtchinnikova can repeat her top 4 performance from last year, Shenna Sabbath should do reasonably well too
dunno enough about either women's foil or men's sabre.....
    But Go Canucks go!!!!!

Dunno about Shena Sabbath in junior... those American juniors are damn good.

I'm hoping Olga Ovtchinnikova will repeat. I just fenced her Tuesday night. She's not bad at all.... and she's SIXTEEN.

What I wouldn't give to be 16 again.

Ah, Josh McGuire. Yeah, forgot about him. I think he has a very good shot at making top-3, even winning it. The guy's cool as a cucumber and fast and smart.

Yeah the only problem with Josh, (or at leats this is rumored to be so) is that he kinda stopped training lately cuz he thinks he is almost completely unbeatable now......) Well maybe he is ... But still not a good idea to develop extra cockiness. ( although I wish I had his reasons to be cocky)

Junior MF should be great - a scrap between Maguire, Kruse, Cassara and Moltcham and maybe Jault. Would love it if Richard took gold and if he produces the form that saw him win Aix-en Provence, Burgsteinfurt and the European Juniors he's going to be hard to beat. Mind you, Cassara has won two senior World Cups recently and is ranked 5th in Seniors. Moltcham won Junior World Cup in Budapest (always tough) and I'm a big fan of Josh and Jault has won the last couple of (admittedly weaker) Junior WCs. Can't wait.

    Is Halstead going?

I used to like him...but then he spiked a diabetic's drink at a party.

The aussie website has great potential but no content. Did you see me on the results list for the VAFA tournament? I am officially fencing-in-Oz
