A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forums...

Well, folks, this is my valedictory, alas.

The company for which I have worked lo! these many years has in its wisdom made a decision at ( doing my best Mr. Rumbolds impersonation ) "boardroom level" that "in this difficult business climate" blah blah blah they can no longer afford me and are letting me go. Axing the whole department, in fact.

Now, I do not have a computer at home. I have long resisted installing one there because I recognized that I am the type who would get so addicted to it that I would never be unable to tear myself away from the screen and it would absorb even the few remaining hours of free time left me in which to read, write, work out, eat, sleep, bathe and perhaps even-----horrors!-----fence.

Consequently, I have always done my surfing and posting from work. Whether my next position will furnish me with access to the internet or the leisure to use it ( I might actually have to WORK for a living----horrors, again! ) I cannot say. So at best I will be absenting myself from the boards for a while. At worst, permanently...or at least until such time as my will cracks and I break down and buy a PC of my own and jack it in.

But know that I have enjoyed hanging out here enormously, and shall miss the place and all of my fellow denizens enormously. Yes, even epeemike and edew!

In case I am unable to stage a comeback I would like to thank Craig and all of you for being here, for the free flow of information, the camaraderie, the laughs, the helpful hints, the intelligent conversations, the not-so-intelligent conversations, the outright silliness, and even the heated arguments. ( Oh, who am I kidding, ESPECIALLY for the heated arguments! )

So long, and thanks for all the fish,

Inquartata

Well, I say we find out which company has perpetrated this infamy and see if one of our hacker buddies can get a cruise missile to run just a bit "off-target!"

Hurry back Inq...we wish you well!
