I think a ridiculously long time ago, like 1996, pre-Atlanta, at the then "designated Canadian" in Montreal. He almost beat Tony Plourde, had him sweating. And back then Lasker was like a kid from KC.
You know who else is a fun judge to have? Spencer-El. He judged my brother's pool at the Penn State tournament a few years back. He was great, and extremely soft-spoken. | But Ahki is not a rated USFA official, asfarasiknow.
Doesn't mean he can't referee a bout here or there. Plenty of decent referees abound who haven't received their FOC rating. (And there's plenty who have who can't make a call to save their lives.)

| ratings I am unrated so far, but things may change. I think refs are treated very well, I had no idea they were paid? About writing on the board, lots of us have taken a few weeks off due to a major world crisis, and some don't work, they just loll around at home. Lolling is highly under-rated though, I would give myself a B for lolling. |

| An A02 would drop to a B06 on August 1st, 2006. While the minor classification reflects the calendar year earned, the ratings drop occurs at the boundary between fencing seasons. Joe, no longer fencing would become in turn a C10, a D14, an E18, and then midway through 2022 would become unclassified again.

-B | So, it takes 20 years to be unrecognized! (A ->U) Is that proportional to the amount of effort to become recognized? (U->A) |

| I'm a B03 in sabre. Should be an A, but that's just me on my soapbox again. |

-B | I believe it's just at the beginning of the calendar year. So when 2003 rolled over, everyone who had X-99 is now [X-1]-03.
Here, X is either A, B, C, D, or E and [X-1] is either B, C, D, E, or U respectively (and if U, skip the -03).
That's my understanding. I could be wrong about this.

Brad had it right!
Fencer's Classifications, and Referee ratings are good for the entire season (otherwise known as membership year); you do not get demoted until August 1st.
HAve a nice day! |

| Before I left for the UK (18 months ago) I was ranked about 11th in WF in Australia. I now have a ranking of somwhere in the 20's, which will be going down again now that I missed the Melbourne comp a couple of weeks ago. Not that its relevent to the discussion but I thought I'd share!

| I'm just mad at myself for missing an A by a few touches. Don't worry about my complaining, people at my club don't even hear it anymore. LOL

Zelda, how many mebers does the AUS. fencing federation have? How many compete in an average AUS. championship in WF? Any idea on how many AUS. WF fencers there are in total? What are the approximate %-figues for ME/MF/MS/WE/WF/WS? How does the AUS. rating/ranking/classification system, if any, work?
Have a nice time!

| Peter,
There are approximately 60 womens foilists on the open rankings (including juniors/cadets who compete @ the open level) at any one competition you can expect about 20 - 30 women foilists. Rankings are worked out by our 3 best results over the last competition year (measured from competition to competition). Ive never fully understood it but its all explained on the AFF web page at www.ausfencing.org .
