| The battle's begun. Only that inclement weather has delayed it a bit... Yup. The NCAA roster of competitors is out. Check it out: http://www.ncaasports.com/fencing/story/6251900
Make your picks before the start of the mother of all fencing competitions.

1. Florian Reichling Stanford
2. Ozren Debic NDU
3. Nitai Kfir SJU
4. Steve Gerberman Stanford
MS:
1. Ivan Lee SJU
2. Alex Weber PSU
3. Adam Crompton OSU
4. Marten Zagunis PSU

Team overall:

Why wouldn't one of the Jacobsen sisters quailify in WS? Don't they go to an NCAA school? |

| holy moly eric, i am completely confused and dismayed.
1. you made fun of a religion
2. you then suggest that the women of the middle east are loose while in fact they're very modest women
3. you invite people to request fencing tapes shortly after responding to your request to receive fencing tapes i start to receive offers for viagra, is it coming from your site?
Question: is someone on the board taking our e-mails to sell us products other than fencing? if so, please stop, we don't want viagra it's not what we want....is it....huh
4. we're really in a war, this is no joke, they're not playing around it's not a war game, they're really getting shot at, and
5. even though we were hit first, we should still show respect for those people. |

| off topic posts I'm going to start assigning yellow/red cards for posts that send things off topic. It's been a minor annoyance thus far, but it's an annoyance that is easily preventable by responsible posting.
This thread is about NCAA's, let's keep it at that.
Cheers,
Craig |

| Sergei Isakenko Hi Edew,
This is Kelly former sabre fencer at Stanford FC now Berkeley student extrodinare. I really enjoy these post btw, versus the debachery that occurs at fencingsucks.com. I think that your predictions are pretty on, except you forgot one thing in MS. I don't blame you because he is a (dubiously) new addition to the St. John's team (and one of my friends). His name is Sergei Isayenko aka Serhiy Isaenko or however one wants to transliterate it. He came to St. John's as of January 21st of 2003 (hence the dubious nature of his recruitment). He was a Ukrainian Sr. National team member, a member of the same team that is now pretty consistently getting 2nd in WC team events. He won the Northeastern regional winning 21 bouts out of 22, he's beaten Kothny (back when he fenced for GER ) and while Ivan and Weber may pose a challenge I have little doubt that he could beat relatively inexperienced Crompton and Zagunis. So my predictions with a fluid top 3 and of course because I am rooting for Sergei
1. Sergei/Serhiy/Sergey Isayenko
2. Ivan Lee
3. Alex Weber
4. Tim Hagamen
Say hi to George for me! |

| While Kelsey is local boy (being from USAFA, and thus don't have to travel far), I think the others I listed are more than pumped to rip veins. The problem I see at west coast schools in regards to fencing is that they're too relaxed. It's just not as bloodthirsty as in the east coast schools.
The bottom line, put up or shut up. Make a prediction and let's see how it comes down. Who knows, maybe Kelsey sweeps.
Nice to hear that you're doing well in Berzerkely. I'll be having some sabre fodder for you to whack on, if you plan to compete again.

Kelly, it's me! The French guy from Stanford, PM me!

| First day of competition done. Notre Dame out in front with St John's 3 points back and Penn State 2 more points behind. Fourth is Ohio State. Columbia, Princeton, and Stanford as I suggested.
Baghdad University is out of the running.
