Started a fencing chat...

Ok, well i decided i would start a fencing chatroom on IRC for those who would like to check it out please drop by.
For those of you who know how to use IRC simply go to
us.rr.efnet.net or connect to the closest efnet server to your area.
the channel is #fencingchat

Here comes the hard part....anyone who hasnt used IRC heres a crash course...

change the "IRC network" to "EFnet" and right below that change the actual server to the one closest to you (this server may not work for you and you might have to try a few befor finding one that works.)
for "full name" you dont have to use your real name,
same with email.
Once you are connected to the server (do this by clicking "connect to IRC server" )
you will have main window that is titled "status", at the bottom of this click and type "/join #fencingchat" without the quotes. Once you are in type whatever you want, just click enter to send.

it may seem that way at first...but this is actually a program used by millions of people, and if you give it a try you will find that it is pretty fast and easy to set up. Give it a try its definatly worth it. I would like to get a developed chatroom going where we can have people talking about fencing all day long as well as using the forums. I know many sites that use this combination very successfully, it it seems to spive things up for the most part. once you get an active chat going, you can assign channel operaters and set up bots to run the chat, along with run things like trivia bots and other game bots. I think this is something that many of you would enjoy if you took a few moments to fiddle with the setup and such.

JPF: If you are looking for a program that simplifies managing different chat platforms then - and simplifis things - try Trillian (pro version if you can get it). It makes things simple plus you can monitor several different chat channels.

I made it into the chat room once! but the biggest miracle was, I got in there twice. It works!

Found something that will integrate a java chat room with the forum. I'll see about loading it up over the weekend for members to test drive.

grapix - since you are all into the irc side, I'll want you testing it out especially.

nice webmaster you rock! tht would be very very cool. So far there has been some traffic, i got to talk to Mo and MikeHarm for a while last night and i also noticed that a couple people came and went well i was sleeping last night, for you guys that showed up while no one was there im sorry. The theory behind this is, if you can get enough regular visitors eventually you get to a point where someone is there almost all the time, hope you enjoy.

now my only problem is getting everyone in there at the same time, a couple people have showed up while i was gone so they got bored and left. i urge people to keep stopping by, so that we can get more and more people coming. hows the java/irc thing coming webmasteR?
