Overland Park Lodging

While I always get the entry in early, and I get pretty good air fares, I never seem to get to the host hotel early enough!!! Does anybody know of other hotels/motels near the convention center in Overland Park? I will have a car ($15 a day is better than the shuttle, don't you think?) but would prefer to have the venue walking distance from my (cheap!!) room. Thanks!

Yes, there are a few that I know of. For starters, I don't think there are any within walking distance- it'll be about a 10-20 minute drive from the convention center. By the way, which fencing center is it at, because there are two- the Fencing Athletic Club and the Kansas City Fencing Center, where I go to. If you need directions there, on this fencing.net site there's a list of fencing places- Just click on "CLUBS" in kansas, on the home screen page. Places nearby the KC fencing center are Motel 8 (about 7 miles away from it, possibly the closest) There's Holiday and Comfort inns, and for nicer hotels which a little farther away: the Double-Tree hotel, and the Mariott. There's ALOT when you look in the yellow pages of the phone book. Or Try dialing 0 for more places, just try to get one with a 913 area code. Don't worry- there's plenty, and you'll be able to sign in on time. Hope this works out okay! PS-what events are you fencing in- I'm going in the epee events!

I obtained a rate of $48.75/night at the Wyndham Garden plus tax at Expedia for 3 nights. They have a shuttle to pick you up from the airport and to take you to the venue. It appears to be less than a mile from the venue.

Like I stated earlier in my other post on this topic, is the April 25 competion in Overland Park,ks at the Fencing Athletic Center or the Kansas City Fencing Center? I'm also going, but don't know which fencing center its at. Anyone know for sure? :

Yes, and that is next to the Sheraton, but there are 30 something hotels within 1 mile.

I'm sure there's a reason I didn't think of looking at the convention center site....I'll have to come up with one. Thanks for the info. I can pick and choose!
