Large USFA open in Western MA

UMass Fencing and Smith College Fencing will be hosting the 2nd Annual Five College Open (formerly the UMass Open) on the 19th of April.

The event WILL be a USFA open, and will thus be open to ALL members of the USFA. It will include women's and open (mixed) events in all three weapons. There will be 20 strips, with hopefully 6 copper, and hopefully also some vendors. We are expecting to draw at least B's in all events, and an A in open epee.

Furthermore, we are hoping to draw A's in open sabre, women's sabre, and women's epee. We have online registration available, so sign up soon!

Hope to see you all there!

Haha. You and Mike never give up. See, I don't know if you remember, but it is hard to get 2 hours from your house without your parents consent when you are in highschool. That whole college deal seems like fun though....

Given that Ben's probably coming from school he might not be the best option. Other PrFC people are planning to go, see who has space in their car. Then convince the rest of the club to go too.

All Providence practices are in the day, no night practices...And anyways the tournament is on a Saturday. But I will attempt to convince the rest of Providence go.

i know the tourney is on saturday, but my thought was that if ben was in that area on friday night, and then came up this way, you would have a ride this way... thats all...

Please tell me you're not also going to that anime convention.

The novice is on Easter because nothing else was. That time of year is very full and they wanted to hold another event. That meant using Easter. Then again they added the vet event as a late change and put it on a Saturday, so the novice could have been pushed a week and put opposite the NAC with the D event (maybe the reasoning was not having a novice and a D the same weekend?). There really aren't perfect ways os scheduling the number of events that are run by NE div in the number of weekends available, something has to conflict somewhere.

What's wrong with going to the anime convention ? jp

A little off-topic, yes, but who is it that you know is going?

BTW im a little new to this particular forum, and since all of you seem to be aquainted with PrFC members, make I ask who you all are? I know KShan5 is kevin and epeemike is Mike Eskin, but i don't know anybody else. thx

My dad: So, when does "efee" start?

Heh. I'll be nice and not answer that.

I'm Brad Baker. whTouche is Ben White. Christina is something obvious like CMorra. DJApostrophe is Wayne Jenness from UMass. There are a few other UMassers who lurk on occasion but never post. The PrFC people you'd probably be better at figuring out who's who than I would be.

Just a note that the online registration page has been cleaned up somewhat. Among other changes the events are now (properly) listed as mixed X and women's X rather than men's X and women's X (where X is each weapon obviously). It's nice to see some people from the board have already signed up, including a couple not from the local area that without the board probably never would have even heard of the tournament.

I'm on the (heh) fence about this one -- we're going to the RPI Open on April 6, the Mid-Atlantic Circuit event in Philly on April 12-13, and I might actually need to do laundry or go to my day job or something that third weekend.

But that database page is excellent -- if Mixed Foil starts looking like an offer I can't refuse, chances are the University of Rochester will send a posse.
