    One of my first bouts

Ive only had about 6 lessons (saber) so far, so I don't really know anything other than the basic footwork, lunge and just a normal hit to the top of the head, and 3 parries. And I dont really have any practice in them,
But anyways, I had my second bout (up to 5 points with a new classmate that started at the same time as me). It was really fun and I wish I could have bouted more but it was already the end of class.
The cool thing about the bout though was that I invented this cool new attack (well... I highly doubt its really new, but I thought of it myself ). Dont really know how to explain it but it went kinda like this: I would swing my saber clockwise so that it would be kinda pointing at the ground, then I would get really low and quickly cut up and hit him on the bottom of his wrist. It was pretty cool because I won 4 out of the 5 points like that .

Anyways Im really exited about fencing and Im probobly going to try to take 3 lessons a week instead of 2.

Adam...always be thinking of new ways to attack and defend...it's a big part of the game. What you're doing is taking advantage of an opponent who is carrying his hand a little high...so there is an area under his forearm open and vulnerable to a stop cut.

Next bout, rather than making a big circle with your blade to get into position, try a bit simpler motion. From en guarde, just drop your point to a lowline position, and simultaneously extend under your opponents arm and stop cut up. It's a more direct action, and keeps you from being attacked in prep by your opponent during your circular preparation manuever.

Keep taking your lessons, and practice your lesson actions during subsequent bouts.
