Favero and Eigertek (American Fencing Supply) are about the least expensive
scoring machines I have seen. We have a number of Faveros permanently installed
at the Boston Fencing Club with excellent results. But the plastic cases might
be subject to damage if packed away every time.
The Eigerteks are well spoken about and can run on a nine volt battery, an
advantage.
There are so-called floor reel systems which are not too expensive (Triplette
or Blue Gauntlet, probably others). They are inexpensive but annoying to tape
down every time you use them. But they would be usable until you can affort
Uhlmann blue turtles.
