Array Based on the opening 4 panel montage, I'd say you like the skyhook. -

The riposte from line at 3:30 is probably my favorite. Also partial to the long exchange starting from 5:41 and the exchange ending in Montano's attack from 5:01.
Unrelated, Andrew, I like your choices of music--especially the Strokes song.

Right up until the end I was like "What about Yak's last touch against Samele?!?"
Incredible touch, especially in the context of the match! -
The Overhead stuff is awesome -- from the Cyrus Lost Tapes? That view of Yaki's footwork is awesome. -

Array Craig, I find the skyhook to be the least interesting action in saber. Give me the classical cut action, or at the very least, a thrust action.
/I would like to see the FIE remove the cuff as target in saber. Mandate the saber cuff can be no longer than 20cm and force people to hit a significant target. -

A well-executed skyhook is a beautiful thing and a remarkable equalizer for shorter fencers. Daria Schneider's skyhook has always astounded me. -

Array Anyone else getting distortion? Sort of a washed-out, pastel-colored blurring that goes in and out? I can't really watch it at all. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array Awesome. Thank you.
Would you mind in the future, maybe not doing the split screen in the middle of the video i.e. Yaki, 2:55? Or do it, then show them separately? Minor complaint. Thanks again. Sometimes adrenalin is more instructive than meditation. So, in between screaming, try and pay attention. -

/I would like to see the FIE remove the cuff as target in saber. Mandate the saber cuff can be no longer than 20cm and force people to hit a significant target. 20cm on a tiny 13 year old vs 20cm on a 6 foot + adult would not result in relatively equal target area. Better to leave target to the wrist bones and teach fencers to -- y'know -- take a parry once in a while.
20 cm on me is about an inch short of the crotch of my elbow (on you too, if I remember right...I think we're about the same height). 20 cm on one kid I teach would be like an opera glove.
Your change would require a non-conductive manchette to reduce target in an equitable fashion -- probably to the crotch of the elbow....too much of a change. -

Another one I quite like is Nicolasz Iliasz's long attack.
Any of these doing it for you?
Edit: Also quite interested in what Kovalev, Reshetnikov and Yakimenko have all started doing on their long attacks, using stutter steps, stopping and taking steps back.

And you can use any fencers whose attacks in prep you like. I'm not fussy. I'm just interested in how different people set it up. Similar Threads -
