PKT:

Ha! I compared science to religion intentionally. It is my belief that both evolution and creationism requires a certain amount of faith to believe in.

Consider the act of creation. Does it follow the scientific method? No, it fails on step one, observation. No human was there to observe. Evolution relies upon faith in mankind and his understanding to discern the creation while Biblical Creationsim relies upon the Bible for its account of creation. You have to have faith to believe either one. One glorifies man in his conquest of nature and his evolution to the highest being, the other glorifies, or should at least, the Creator.

Look at our planet and all of its complexities. I find it hard to believe that this was all an act of pure chance, and a small one at that. I do agree with you on survival of the fittest. That concept is one that can be observed through the scientific method. Baby Boomers may indeed have a better immunity to allegies than do my generation, but that doesn't make me conclude that my ancestors were once monkies. It means that my species can adapt to my environment within my species. Are Baby Boomers a different type of human, a more evolved one? Is my generation of highy stimulated couch potatoes somehow more evolved than people used to using their imagination to entertain themselves? I can see a difference in my generation in comparison to children in grade school now. They've de-evolved into lazy children who go nuts if they can't watch cartoons or play PS2 games. I've seen this first hand in my fiance's 10 year old brother. I work in and around education and most all teachers I talk to say that kids these days have no attention span for learning. It just isn't fun compared to TV. I remember not liking school too much, but thats anyone. I still learned and found areas which I enjoyed and excelled at. I hope these kids do as well.

Anyway, my ramble is that just because there are differences in humans depending upon their environment, doesn't mean that we are descended from monkies.

From my worldview, mankind needs more than just a moralistic framework. The Law of Moses defined sin, but it didn't save us from sin. I don't think man alone can do this. From a Biblical viewpoint, this is impossible. Man is totally depraved. There is non righteous, no not one. So yes, we are of simular viewpoints, however, its our means to achieve the goal which differs. That and the fact that I believe that there is an afterlife and that in comparison to enternity, this time on Earth is short.
