| Setting Tempo I was wondering people's oppinion or observation...
Who do you think should set the tempo, the attacker or defender...and who do you think does set the tempo acording to trends in Refereeing?
What I mean by "setting the tempo" is:
does the attacker's one-tempo or the defender's one-tempo determine who has attacked in preparation/counter attacked in time?
consider the following examples:
1. Attacker makes one tempo attack. Defender makes a counter attack in one tempo (after the attack starts), and two retreats (two tempos). The attacker lands the attack (with a nice long lunge) in that one tempo of thiers but it is after the defender's counter attack has hit. All ATTACKS are executed without violating any ROW (no break of line, threat, etc.)
2. The same two people- attack is the same, the defender only makes a counter-attack (after the attack starts), and one retreat with a parry (it is malpare with NO riposte).
3. Attacker makes one tempo attack. Defender makes a counter attack in one tempo (after the attack starts), and returns to guard (one tempo) and the attack lands after the return to guard (still in the same ONE tempo of the attack).
4. Durring the one tempo attack the deffender makes 3 counter attacks (all good) and returns to guard before the attacker lands thier attack.
5. The same as 4, but insead of making the last 3 actions the defender waits in place quietly (as they could make 3 more tempos, but they have already hit even though the attack is underway).
What do you think? Is an attacker's tempo the rule to judge by or is the defender allowed to demonstrate "preparation" by making more tempos in the same amount of time? |
