The Alamo Fencing Academy in conjunction with the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) will host a clinic for fencing coaches on December 16-18, 2011. The guest instructor will be two-time Russian Olympic Gold Medalist Oxana Ermakova . Oxana won gold medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics in the Womens Team Epee. Joining her as a guest instructor is Victoria Mikhailova Long, former Russian Epee team member who is now coaching at the Dallas Fencing Academy.

Attendees include the current USFCA President Abdel Salem and several top level American collegiate fencers and coaches. Coach Salem is currently the Head Coach at the United States Air Force Academy and will be attending with his assistant coach Kristin Huston. Huston is a veteran of the Iraqi War and was a varsity fencer at the Academy.

Bob Hurley, the father and coach of Kelly and Courtney Hurley, will also be attending the clinic. Kelly and Courtney are US National and NCAA Champions and are from San Antonio. On Friday night, Bob will discuss coaching Kelly and Courtney at the Olympics and many other international fencing competitions. All-American Steve Kubik and his brother Nick are from San Antonio and competed together with Courtney on Notre Dame’s 2010 NCAA Championship fencing team. Oksana Samorodov who won the Temple Collegiate Open and is a freshman on Penn State’s varsity fencing team will also be attending the clinic and fencing with Ermakova. Andrei Samorodov, Head Coach of Alamo Fencing Academy, and Wendell Kubik, Past President of the USFCA are the host coaches.
