Hi!
I looked up the data. There are 695 fencers registered, in 4 events (cdt and Jnr, both genders) for a 2-day event. That gives 350 (or so) competitors each day. I found some old data that the competition would use 41 pistes, which matches my guesstimate from last year.
However, the registered list in Ophardt online only lists 20 refs each day (most reffing both days, among them me)
ZZ - what is the latest data on #refs?
Have a nice time!

Array Peter, I sent you a PM. ^^
FYI the lists in Ophardt only shows the swedish refs, lots of foreign refs will be added IRL. -

Array Looks like having everyone fence pools was almost a complete waste of time today. ;-)
Also, something is messed up with the results page.
After looking at the results for about 30 seconds, the page refreshes and an error message appears.
The refreshed page is: http://www.vigor-challenge.se/eng/jmd.htm
The error message is: "The system cannot find the file specified."
Hope that helps someone. Take your time. Read carefully. -
If you hit the back button on the browser you should see what you were looking at. The page seems to have a broken script running. -
Hi!
Just back from reffing. This year, I reffed L32 in Cdt WE, and L64 in Cdt ME. In both events, one step up from last year.
After saturday fencing, the Swedish fencing refereeing commmittee hosted a 2-hour reffing meeting. The first half of that was spent listening to the keynote speaker, Donald Alperstein, who spoke about the USFA reffing system, and epee reffing in general. A lot of interesting stuff. A comparison: Sweden has only 2 domestic referee levels, but USA has 10. which such a large span, I wonder which country got it better - or if it doesn´t really matter.
I also saw some other f.netters - ZZ was working the gabarits and the info booth, and Ancientepee recognized my nametag.
From a coaching point of view, there was a lot to notice. Also noticeable: the Israeli team is taking quite large steps forward every year. I predict that the next senior World or Olympic Championship medal that goes to a fencer/team from a country that has not yet gotten on of those medals will be taken by am Israeli fencer/team.
The final in Jnr ME was a bit of a letdown - in a bout pitting 2 Great Britain fencers, it was won by abandonment, due to injury. That nonwithstanding, having two Britons in the #1-2 spots is probably not that common for them in a competition of this level.
The Japanese team was really big. Conspicuous by their absence were the Hungarians, but the Austrians had one gal who looked like a identical twin of Nusy, so she might make up for that absence.
Have a nice time!

Quite a shame. Good job to Jack getting that far. Do you know what the injury was?
