1st tournament jitters

Well my 1st tournament is over, and I couldn't be happier with my prformance.

Saturday, I won one of 7 pool bouts and only got blanked by my coach and the winner. In DEs I had a former Olympian to fence against. I got 5 touches and lost. Finished 8 of 8, but I learned alot and had a blast.

Sunday, I won two pool bouts and only got blanked by on fencer. In my 1st DE I won against a College fencer. Moved on to the next braket and lost 15 to 8 I think. Finished tied for 3rd since there was no fence off.

Had a great time and meet some very cool people. Thanks everyone for the advice, it all helped!!!!

You just fenced a former olympian at your first competition? That's just SO COOL, I mean, what are the odds? And nice to hear that you had a good time. Soon you will probably find yourself completely addicted, go to all the tournaments that you can and consider all weekends not spent fencing a complete waste. (Competitive fencing is the most addicting thing ever!)

I have my first tournament tomorrow also, epee. My son and I are both participating. We're excited and nervous. I think I'm most concerned about doing everything outside the strip right.

I put on a badge every day and a fencing tournament has me out of my head. I know I have little chance of doing well in either event I am taking part in, but the competitive side of me hate to admit that

Also really cool! Especially if his uncle was also HIS coach, that would be somewhat a guarantee of a very competent coach!

And to be able to train with fencers on highest level on a daily/near-daily basis is a priviledge that shouldn't be underestimated. I drive for hours every week to train with "current" (08) olympians, but that is sooooo expensive. So, lucky you
