    What's in a name?

At the World Championships about to start in Catania, Bolivia has entered a fencer in women's epee whose name is listed as ESPOSA, Micky (sic) Mouse.
Your life is not a prize you get at the end of it. But I did get a champagne sabre for my birthday.

Brad Baker has never brought me cookies or muffins.
He'd probably have an Olympic medal if he was a Jacobson.

I'm beginning to think Ms. Wife of Micky Mouse is a hoax. While she showed up on the initial list, she didn't show up on the list once competition began; and her FIE profile has no results at all. How very odd . . .

Here in the Netherlands there's a fencer named Treffers, treffer being the Dutch word for a touch. We also have a sabreur called Slagers, best translated as Butchers. Then, of course, there is De Ridder, which means Knight.

    "Awh, can't I presume a little?"
