Vivi-Section

Has anyone any idea what has happened to the Rocky Mountain Section's website? It's been inaccessible for weeks now...

...and kudos for the thread title. As an avid NYTimes X-word-er, I'd say it's a gem!

Draws a blank stare from me - I guess that I donīt have the right cultural references to get it. Can you explain the joke?

Confused in Sweden,

The title uses "vivi-", a latin stem refering to "living" with "section".

The purpose of the thread was to ask whether the web site for a certain section of a fencing organization was "alive" or "dead". (Inquartata couldn't get the website, so to him it was dead.) His use: vivi-section?="is the section alive?"

However, "vivisection" itself is an english word with a far grimmer meaning, specifically, to disect a living being for scientific research.

"Say something witty. About me."
"The king is not a subject."
[pause & laughter]
"Was that a pun?"
"No your majesty. It was a play on words."
"Oh, OK."
