Array Name on Jacket Question Hey guys,
If a fencer has last name that begins with "Mc" like McFencer or McNuggets, would the "c" in "Mc" be capitalized?
MCNUGGETS or McNUGGETS?
Or maybe it's a preference?
Answers are much appreciated. -
The Athletes' Handbook says capital letters, so your first choice would appear to be the one.
From 2-8: In all three weapons, each fencer’s last name must be printed legibly, by hand or machine, in navy blue capital letters between 8 and 10 cm high, such that the name is visible from a distance of 15 feet: either
(1) on the back of the uniform or lamé between the shoulders; (2) on the front or side of the thigh of the
“rear” leg; or (3) on a piece of fabric or lamé material that is firmly sewn to the uniform in such a way that
it will not detach during fencing or catch the opponent’s point. Fabric attached to the uniform must be the
same color as the part of the uniform to which it is attached. Conductive materials must be attached in
such a way as to not alter the conductivity of the metallic vest or jacket. NAMES PRINTED ON TAPE
ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. -

Array It is weird that pretty much everyone has it done in more of a royal or medium blue, not a navy blue as specified. "Some people are born great fencers, some people achieve fencing greatness, and some people have it thrust upon them."

Array I've never seen anyone have it as MCNUGGETS (or even MACNUGGETS...), always as McNUGGETS (or MacNUGGETS...). The Stalwart Panda

I was sure that at the Commonwealths last year the print was MCNUGGETS.
There is a photo on the Scottish Facebook that shows MCKENZIE. Looks silly with the capital C. -

Array Meh, Lisa's never been one to conform to the norm. Takes after her dad in that way...
That said, I'm not exactly the most observant of people, so I could be completely wrong. Which is more probable than possible. The Stalwart Panda

In my case, I got one done at a competition, and Barry Paul just told me to right down my name and country code. The others were guys I've known for years. The Stalwart Panda

Array As someone who does names plus are National Rank referee have seen the spelling both way. But that doesn't mean you might get one that his threwing around his weight and claim it's wrong. Now I have referee claim that navy blue is black so we do it in royal blue instead of naval blue which looks black. My wife maidian name is McGrew Tim Loomis
