Array Hot Enough For You? Over 2,600 record high temperatures in the US in July alone. I heard that on Fox News, so I know it's true.
This post is a place-holder for the coming winter, when there will be massive blizzards and various folks will again pipe up and say "See, there's no such thing as global warming. Nyaaah, nayaaah, nyaaah!"
So, when that day comes, and whether or not you believe there's such a thing as global warming, let alone anthropogenic global warming, I want y'all to remember that we broke a bunch of heat records this summer, part of a continuous global warming trend that has been observed around the planet. One heat wave is "weather" - a swarm of "hottest ever" is "climate seems to be getting warmer, would you please turn up the A/C?" "In theory, theory and practice are the same, but in practice, theory and practice are different." -

Array Global warming is a lie and so is evolution. -

Array The whole "global warming" label is unfortunate. "Climate change" is much better, since it could result in warming or cooling depending on the local geography. Likewise climate change could be good or bad depending on where you live. "Oh, how convenient! A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope. Get back to work!" -

I cant wait to head back up to S.F. where the climate is more reasonable. =) "Oh, how convenient! A theory about God that doesn't require looking through a telescope. Get back to work!" -

I think the comics are funny, but seriously suggesting that there is no climate change going on because of a cold spell in the winter is just stupid. Disagreement with the source is one thing, but pretending it just doesn't exist is... well, akin to a river in Egypt. Array Wait, Tom Coburn is an Egyptian? "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Good thing Global Warming is a hoax, otherwise we'd be in real trouble... <rolls eyes> Originally Posted by OROD The whole "global warming" label is unfortunate. Well, let me ask you this then:
How is the climate changing? Is it getting cooler or warmer (in terms of the average global temperature)?
Is it a local phenomenon, or a global one? (Arguing this a collection of local phenomena seems like it would intimate that localities do not interact with one another...) -

Not that that has every happened, either on this board, or certain news outlets! I didnt say it was a local phenomenon, only that the results at a local scale can differ from one another. Climate change (or Global Warming) is a change in the average conditions of the Earth, but the average condition of a system doesnt tell you what the conditions are at a specific point in that system. Also, saying "Global Warming" doesnt mean that that's the only change occurring. It could include sea level change, or other changes. "Oh, how convenient!
