Array Good epee blade? You guys are probably tired of these types of questions by every board newbie, but I'll still ask it. ;D What's good in terms of durability? Most of the blades I had were Ukrainian Stankevitch/Makarushchenko (S/Ms) - both maraging and non-FIE but lately they have been breaking really quickly...
Anyone had any good experiences? -

Array no, i have only cheap bg's but i keep using them, the tips don't always work, like you'll lose several points in a bout, but what the hell, what are you going to do? when i get to the olympics i'll buy UBERblades -

Array BF Maraging are great epee blades. Can't talk about the non FIE ones though - Epee is the Louis Vuitton bag of fencing: only the best can get it, and the rest of the masses must content themselves with cheap knockoffs (sabre, foil)

Array I've had great success with the Leon Paul sheet metal blades (non-FIE). I've been using them for over a year (three days per week) now with no breakage.
The one caveat is that they don't feel like other épée blades: you either like 'em or you don't.

Array Dear Sirs and ladies:
I have one query related to this topic. Being a beginner in epee, would like to know what is the stiffest and strongest epee blade, that is maraging. Please do not think this question is foolish for the fencing I have done in foil has created a style with me, that utilized the firmest blade possible. One other related question question, are the vniti epee blades as stiff as their foil, or relatively how stiff are they? I thank all for their time and consideration.
thank you,
scarphe -

Array The Vniti Epee blades are as stiff as their foil blades. I do believe that if you are looking for the "stiffist" blade possible the Leon Paul FIE blades (the "sheet metal" ones) have a stiffness number labeled on the blade. The number corrosponds to the measurement on the gauge for checking weapon flexability. The higher the number the more flexible, the lower the number the less flexable. The measurement is between 4.5 and 7.0. The blades stamped 4.5 are the stiffest LEGAL blades you could use (in international compeition- though in the US...) The Leon Paul blades do tend to loose stifness through use, so the number only corrosponds to a new blade. If you find that you like a particular stiffness, say 5.2. You could find that a blade marked 5.2 has the same flexibilirty when first used as any other 5.2 blade. Similar Threads -
