Fun and amusing Training ideas and drills

Anyone have any suggestions for FUN things I can use with my club as drills?

I use the ones here alot and I am looking for more games or silly exercises that everyone can do as a group. Just to make everything far more difficult this is a college club so we are talking about 18-26 year olds.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have one...

Well! This thread got buried...

How's this? :

Last time in class, (yes collegiate) was "Bondage Day"...first, our pommels were duct-taped to our wrists, to force us to remember to keep them there, and not, you know, flail all over...not fun enough? Well, then, the arch of our lunge-foot (can I say that?) was tied via rope (like, laundry-line type) to our taped-up sword wrist, about en-guard length. The result? (besides bringing your foot up to salute? ) When doing a lunge (or whatever), it forced us to bring our foot in after the sword- if the rope was slack, may mean we were bringing our foot out b4 sword; also, when tied up, it was hard to have your hand too high when in final position...

Anyways, I think it really did help a bunch of us...

Dunno if you like the idea, or if you've heard of it yet, but the thread title brought it to mind....!

Anyone else?

Mmmmm, bet THAT did wonders for your fine finger-play. The pommel SHOULD be free to move, without that (and worse, without having the wrist free) you're doing every action from the elbow.

And the other suggestion just makes the situation even worse. Where do you fence? Who came up with "drills" like these?

Phillipino tag

Hi all,
Heres a great group game for warm ups, and footwork. Was taught to me
by a kid from the phillipines (hence the name).
Team tag game (even or not, coaches choice)
small safe zone on either side of field of play, two jails (one near each
safe zone).
you may only tag someone if they left their teams safe zone after you!!
Confusing at first, but great for control of distance, timing and learning feints
(from a tactical standpoint).
After everyone understands the rules- play it with footwork (advance, retreat to move through the field of play, lunge to tag).
Once tagged, you go to jail- you may be rescued by a "live" teamate. The jail may chain out or not (coaches choice!)
Cheers,
B.

Uhm...

Whoops, sorry, didn't mean to confuse you!

I meant, the point wasn't to fence all the time wrapped up, just do the moves it actually helped. The idea wasn't that this was the ideal way to fence, the idea was that we had certain areas to correct, and zeroed in on the faulty areas, to correct them...We did have some mobility, too...
we weren't supposed to do any fine finger-play, we were supposed to correct what we were doing wrong..does this make any better sense? I think I'm repeating myself...

Name a move that involves the blade where being able to move the pommel relative to the wrist isn't important. Even something like extending which is done almost completely in the axis made by the forearm and wrist and hand still involves some change of angle frequently. Anything that requires movement of the blade clearly does.

Give me just 1 example.
