Array Looks good, except they're using a photo I took without permission, prior consent, or indicating credit.

Array It seems that this website a collection of the different sport teams of some official university websites. Thus, if your photo appeared in the fencing page of the official U. Mass. sport website, they probably have the right to use it. -
The picture evan is refering to is of brown's Ruth Schneider. It did not (i believe) appear (with permission anyway) in any brown stuff. Evan takes the pictures and posts them in his web albums. Some damn good pictures if I do say so myself.
Thanks again for the pictures for this past weekend Evan.

Array Properties of the Schneider photo Original story at Brown's official website, which was then reproduced in the college sports website using the same link to the same photo.

Array The photo was donated to the Brown University Fencing Team with the expressed permission they could use any photo provided they or associated parties gave proper credit. In the case the first time this photo was used by Brown Athletics the relevant credit was listed. The subsequent time this photo was used an identification of the fencer was provided, but no credit was given.
It would seem that College Sports has a contract by which they can pull content directly (and automatically without human review) from the school's site, thus explaining how they came to retain the photo.
Efforts are currently underway to rectfiy this particular situation.
There have been some issues in the past when similar circumstances have cropped up, including one case when organizers of the Columbus NAC poached a photo of mine from another site, crediting someone else with the image.
I can't police everyone, and I'd like to think I don't have to. I get great satisfaction in the photos I take as well as others' appreciation of them. This is a small part on my behalf in which I can give something back. If it in any way better helps to promote the sport or individuals associated with it then I'm happy.
Lord knows when I fenced for UMass so many years ago there'd have been someone to chronicle our efforts... in fact there was someone, but he took the images, and the memories with him.
Anyway...
I'm actually going to be out at Boston College on Saturday to shoot the IFA's, so maybe I'll see some of you there.
Cheers,

Array do they just link to the actual college website instead of having the stuff on their own website?
that's what they do for pictures, etc
if they did that would they still be violating copyright crap? Similar Threads -
