    Conductive foil bib question

Granted, this might be intuitively obvious,(It is me after all) but I have a question about the conductive bib. (I have to buy a mask for this weekend's wheelchair championships in Portland)

Is there a tab on which to attach the clip? or do you just attach it to you're non-weapon side? To where do you attach the other clip? Top of the arm hole? Or rear like they used to have us do for the lame?

There is a tab on the inside of the bib, matching the one on the newer lame's back collar like the saberists have. If you have an older lame, you could have a tab sewn on, or just clip it somewhere on the upper back. Putting a tab on would be more secure, though.

The bib is not required in USFA competitions until next season. Unless you want to give your opponent an advantage you should cover the tabs on the mask with tape for this competition in Portland.

I think it would make sense to me for them to just switch to sabre masks for foil if the bib is to be conductive. Why go halfway?

    1) The whole bib is not target, like Sabre.
    2) The face is not target, like Sabre.

Let us not give them any suggestions to make them target. We found out how dangerous the point is over the slash with the visor masks.

The mask has 2 tabs, one on each side depending on handedness.

On lames, most people I have seen with older ones clip the wire to the collar.

I was told for championships and world cups you need the lame bib. Augh!

Whoever told you was half right. For World Cups and any other FIE competitions you need the new electric bib.

You are going to the USFA National Championship. It might be true next season to require the new bib, but not this season.

Does it say they are required in your athlete's package?

Save yourself the major worry and get a Leon Paul X-Change mask with a regular bib and a lame'd replacement one....no worries.

The Athlete's package is generic and it written once and used for the season. There is one competition that the USFA is hosting that does require the bib and it is at the same time as the Summer Nationals and that is the PanAm Qualifiers.

You also should check this on page 3, Item VIII http://assets.teamusa.org/assets/doc...utes_Final.pdf

Print it out and have it with you if someone says you need to buy a new mask.
