    Where's Diamond Bar, California?

I'm going to be in the Los Angeles, California area the week of Feb 24th, 2003. A town called "Diamond Bar". Sounds like my kinda place if they named the whole town after a drinking establishment...

So I'm planning on bringing my stuff and looking for a place to spar and maybe take a foil lesson. Any suggestions? I looked at the USFA website but I'm pretty innocent when it comes to the realities of travelling in the L.A. area. Where's the closest salle to Diamond Bar that would welcome an out of towner for a couple of evenings of fencing?

    Oh really.....

And what, pray tell, will you be using for a weapon?

Hmmm, since you are the challenger I get choice of weapons don't I? We will duel with words! And I suggest we take it to the water cooler.

In the meantime, I would appreciate any constructive feedback on fencing venues close to Diamond Bar...

Diamond Bar is in Orange County just off of the 57 freeway, a little south of the 60. You can take the 60 from downtown L.A. and your looking at little over 30 miles. There are no clubs in Diamond Bar that I know of. It is in the Orange Coast Division and the closest clubs are Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, and the South Coast Fencing Center which has a permanent facility. The Orange Coast Fencing Academy has classes throughout the area.

Plus, you can talk to me about equipment if you're there Tues through Friday!

Heck, we're holding one of the events there on Feb 23rd! Come on down!
Need fencing equipment? See me at H.O.M. Fencing Supply

Should you know of any other Alaska fencers (or just Alaskans) who are California Dreamin', Alaska Airlines currently is running a special where a round-trip ticket to or from California can be had for 13,000 Mileage Plan Miles.

The special is good for travel until Feb 28th and looks to be available for travel to CA from most anywhere on Alaska Airline's route system. 13,000 miles is a great deal compared to the usual fares to California from places such as Kodiak, Nome, Barrow. or even ANC and FAI.

Very true. 13,000 miles is pretty cheap comparitively speaking. this will be my first trip to Southern California so we'll see how it goes. Going on a business training thing so probably wont have loads of free time to play, depending on how much homework they give us.... should be able to get away 2 or 3 nights though.

Just looking for a little bouting and maybe see what's going on in the world of electric sabre. I'll probably fill my bag with new stuff while I'm there too. Not too many fencing shops up here ya know.
