Fencing Videos? Are there any good instructional videos you can get about fencing? I've done a number of internet searches and never found anything that looked useful. I have a number of books that I read sometimes, but I feel that it would be more useful to learn this kind of thing from a video than from a book. Sometimes I'm not really sure what Imre Vass is talking about, and I wish he would just show me. With tennis, you can watch youtube videos all day long. But I'm not aware of anything like that for fencing. -

But I'm not aware of anything like that for fencing. There are tons of videos on youtube -- serach for "cyrusofchaos" (saber) or "fievideo" (all weapons.) Those are just competition videos, Sheridan fencing also does some instruction stuff on youtube.
Then say goodbye to the next couple of weeks, there are hours and hours of video. -
There are lots of great competition videos on youtube. But I haven't been able to find any good instructional videos. -
for what weapon?
i have heard of one youtube series called piont in line, but i havent found it. theres another one that doesnt have a general name, but rather several series(es? how do i pluralize that?) on fencing (attacks, advanced attacks defence, basics, rules, etc.) with some 20 (approximately) videos for every series. i only know this for foil. however, videos wont teach you, only a qualified coach will. the videos can help to some extent, but only a coach can correct/perfect your fencing. -

Here is another video that might interest you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6WEx...eature=related
The one who posted the video says that it is a video of Imre Vass giving lessons. -
Oh sorry! I also forgot to mention that CyrusOfChaosalso has epee videos with commentaries on them. He also made a video about olympic silver medalist Fabrice Jeannet's 'punishment touches'. -
I'll have try watching these videos. All I've ever been able to find on youtube is beginner stuff.
I'm surprised there aren't DVDs you can get. I think that would be more useful than books. -

Array Check the fencing equipment tab up top and then look under books/dvds.
I think there are at least 3 instructional DVDs listed.
Or are ya just looking for the free stuff? -
They only have one DVD right now. It's "developmental exercises" or something. That might be worth watching; I don't know. The last time I clicked there the only DVD was something with the word "beginner" so I didn't give it a second thought. Although I guess I'm being presumptuous by thinking of myself as anything other than a beginner. -

Array If you look in the book section, there's also one that comes with a DVD. ( "Modern Sabre Fencing", top left, second from the left. ) I have it. IMO the DVD is more useful to the fencer than the book.
There's also a DVD on footwork exercises by Waldek Czaja, I think Swordmasters has that one. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! Similar Threads -
