Fencing in Asheville, NC vs. Dead Zone?

Inquiring for a (tall, adult) friend who wishes to learn. Did not see a listing for a USFA-registered club on the NC Div. site.

Given the ecclectic nature of Asheville, this seems somewhat hard for me to believe that fencing doesn't exist there, in any way, shape, or form.

Anyone have info that I can pass on? Is there a group that meets informally, etc.?

Used to be a guy named Bernie that taught out of a dance school up that way. Rather informal, rather outdated as far as things went but a nice guy. I have an old fencing buddy or two up that way currency that might be able to help out with more though.

Hmm... seems strange given the atmosphere of the area (college/artistic progressives & affluent market potential).
