Question about thick glove

Hi,

Yesterday, I forgot my glove at the club. So today, I played around with my foil wraping the grip with a towel. Then I noticed that I can control my blade with less strength than using my glove and felt comfortable.

1)Does it make sence that I can control my blade with less strength if I use a thicker glove?
2)Can someone recommend me a thick glove that I can try?

Thank you.

Re: Question about thick glove

Maybe you just need a heftier grip.

Well, there are thick gloves for welding and the like, and some fencing gloves are thicker than others, but I can't think of one in particular offhand ( pardon the pun ).

You might try two, one inside the other...

this may be indicative of a slightly deeper problem... as an aside, it would be interesting to know whether you have greater dexterity now than you did before given that you are unlikely to be afforded the same scope to manipulate the tip with your fingers as compared to when wearing a glove.

if you do find that you have more control now, it would suggest that you are in need of a weigthing bias towards the hilt (as in the case of a french grip with pommel). in that case a weightier handle may help.

on the other hand to get better balance, may be a thought to get the lightest handle and a lightweight guard....

ravva,

I think you are right. I bought a thicker glove but it didn't help me much. I think it was the balance that made me feel comfortable. The towel I used to wrap the grip was a large bath towel Thanks!
