summer camp for epee DC's looking for a summer residential camp post-nationals. Fences epee (loves french grip), is relatively new to the sport, and values intensity (i.e. would prefer a camp where there's a glut of fencing opportunities to one where there's more hangout/social time).
Any recommendations? -

Array I'm not sure where you're from, but I know Northwest Fencing Center (http://www.nwfencing.org/) does a camp in the winter and then another in the summer.
I also fence epee, and just recently did the winter one, and it was amazing. The center is extremely nice, all the coaches were incredibly knowledgable, and I felt like the camp was reasonably priced. I'm a college student, and will probably go to this camp as much as possible. I figured it out and I was at the club maybe 50 something hours over the course of the week. Good times...
Also, they offer homestay, with room and board.
The summer camp should be posted soon, and I'm sure you could email them and they would let you know sooner. Sometimes adrenalin is more instructive than meditation. So, in between screaming, try and pay attention. -

Thanks -- I'll see what I can find out. especially about homestay. Insomniac vegetarians aren't always the most appealing houseguests, LOL! -

I was at both the foil and epee NWFC camps last year and had a great time. "Sir, didn't I parry"
"You didn't take advantage of his blade enough, so no."
(I guess i should have romanced it a bit more..." -
Quit (no longer with us)
Array Okay, when i got to camp for a week this summer. i want to get each roomie or whatever a little "camp survival kit". i tihnk it would be cute. probably 8-15 girls. something like that. -

Array Ohio State epee camp is awesome. The main guy in charge is the epee coach, and if you fence epee, it is a great experience. Especially if he is relatively new, because the local kids who go to that camp are relatively new as well, so it's good. -

Array In Western Canada there used to be a great week long camp for kids... a real inexpensive. Something like $500 CDN, and this includes all meals (3 times a day) lodging, fencing, transportation to & from the fencing hall & other activities such as swimming at the beach etc... There were also lots of stuff for the adults to do (as it's a well known wine region/ vacation area). I have no idea if they're planning on bringing this camp back, as I see nothing posted anywhere.
On the other hand (and on the other side of the country)... If you would like your fencer to learn a little French in addition to fencing, this camp also looks promising: http://askfred.net/Clinics/moreInfo.php?clinic_id=14383 Beer, it's whats for dinner! ~ a young snowboarding Canadian The meek don't want it! ~ sticker on a rock band's guitar -
Thanks RECON and Fencergrl -- these are alternatives I wouldn't have found/considered. French language one looks especially interesting (already her second language in school and she's wondered aloud whether she could "fence in French"), so I'll keep an eye on enrollments in epee. -

Array She would get a lot of opportunities to speak French at that camp as it's in Quebec, so both English & French can/ will be spoken. Beer, it's whats for dinner! ~ a young snowboarding Canadian The meek don't want it! ~ sticker on a rock band's guitar -
Where's the best epee camp for my kid? I am from Calgary, AB so I would appreciate any recommendations. I really have no idea because my line of work is in Calgary roofing. Thank you in advance.

I would look for a camp there. http://www.epicfencing.net/ Beer, it's whats for dinner! ~ a young snowboarding Canadian The meek don't want it! ~ sticker on a rock band's guitar -
Fencing Epee Marilleva Hi everybody,
This is our camp in Italy, Fencing Epee Marilleva. http://www.clubschermaempoli.com/201...pee-marilleva/
It's the 6th edition. In the past five years, many athletes coming from all over Italy trained and had fun with us. This year Fencing Epee Marilleva opens to foreign athletes too!
The summer camp will take place in Marilleva 900 (Trento – Italy) from 23rd to 30th of july 2011 and is open to 9 or older.
If you want to have good time and hard work too here you'll find.
Best Regards
